Production Samples and Essen

I’m pleased to confirm the final samples are finally here! So rather than lots of text, let’s get straight to the photos!

 The new box for The City of Kings is a lot bigger than the original box, and as a result I felt the sword would work well on the side of the box as well as the front. So if you like to keep your games sideways, you'll now be able to see the full artwork at all times!

 I also wanted to add some extra narrative to the game to help set the scene for Vesh's creations. The result of this was adding a new letter to the box, which is also included in the Upgrade Pack.

That's all the photos for now! I'm very happy with how everything has turned out and we are now in full production and getting ready to put everything on ships next week. In November I'll be able to share with you information on the ships and start talking about the fulfilment process!

Essen

A few people have been asking about meeting up at Essen and whether or not I will have promo cards with me, so I wanted to confirm the situation.

We will not have a booth, but I will be at the show, I will have our convention promo cards on me at all times so please don't be afraid to ask.

I will also be at the main entrance (front of the building) to hall 1 at 12:00 on Friday for anyone who would like to meet at a specific time. I'll post on Facebook and Twitter a photo of the location assuming I can get a phone connection.

Hi everyone, how’s your September been?  

For me it’s been a fantastic month, I’ve managed to spend a lot of time working on Rising Blades and Project Ella for our 2019 releases and I’m really happy with how they are progressing. I also started a weekly live stream and made a big announcement last week which I’ll mention after the manufacturing update!

Manufacturing  

I’m pleased to confirm I have finally signed off the miniature inserts for The City of Kings and Character expansions.

Unfortunately, we did have a lot of troubles with these and they ended up delaying the manufacturing timeline by nearly 3 weeks, which was a frustration. However, I always plan for something to go wrong during the manufacturing process, so we’re currently still on track for the January delivery.

I should say at this point we have now used up all of the extra time I allocated for issues in manufacturing. This means if anything else comes up it might cause delays but that seems unlikely now though because:  

I’ve signed off everything and mass production has started for many parts of the game!

I’m expecting full production samples to be sent out within the next week or so and will update you as soon as they arrive.

Shipping

I’ve been in contact with all our shipping partners during the past 2 weeks to inform them of the expected quantities and timelines and everyone is happy with the current plan.

Weekly live stream

The City of Games 2019

Finally, I’d like to let you all know that we have announced The City of Games 2019 and will be selling tickets on November 1st at 13:00 UK time. I’m really excited to be able to run the convention for a second year and hope some of you will be able to make it.

Hopefully the next update will include our production samples and I’ll include some details for our plans at Essen.

Hi everyone,

I thought it was about time we did a progress update to let everyone know where we are at!

Proofs

For the past few weeks I have been going back and forth with our manufacturers checking over countless proofs for the game. We've now signed off the digital proofs and received printed proofs for about 90% of the game components. In total there are 73 different items across the games and expansions, so there is a lot to sign off, but we are very pleased with everything so far.

All the printed items, such as punchboards, character sheets and cards have been signed off. Most of the non-printed items including the custom meeples for Vadoran Gardens have also been signed off.

The remaining items we're finalising are the inserts for the miniatures and the boxes. We wanted to make sure we had everything else done first, so we could make sure these fitted correctly. I will be meeting with our manufacturers at Gen Con next week to go through these outstanding items and hope by the middle of August everything will be signed off.

At this point I am happy to say we are still on track for our January shipping date.

Gen Con

On Monday I will be heading to America for Gen Con, we will be exhibiting at booth 2765 and hope to see many of you there. Sara and I will be running demos of The City of Kings and Vadoran Gardens and invite you to come and try them out.

We will also have our Okol Costume Promo Card on sale, along with some accessories, art books and limited edition prints.

Please note. Once the convention season ends this promo card will be made available via our website, alongside our other promo cards.

July 30th - August 15th

After Gen Con finishes, Sara and I will be travelling to New York and taking some time to look around America. As such, I won't be posting another update until after I return on August 15th. This won't cause any delays in manufacturing as we will continue to work with our manufacturers whilst travelling, but it does mean we might be slightly slower to respond to messages than normal.

Pledge Manager closing in 24 hours

Hi everyone,

I wanted to send out a short message to remind you all the Pledge Manager will be closing tomorrow at 00:00 BST, you have just over 24 hours to complete your survey if you haven’t already.

What happens if I miss the deadline?

If you miss the deadline you will be moved into a “first come, first serve” group.

You will still have access to BackerKit, and you will still be able to complete your survey, however, your game, expansions, and accessories will no longer be reserved.

This means:

1) If we run out of stock, you will no longer be able to complete your order. This may happen at any time without notice.

2) We may not ship your order with the other backers, and you will receive it at later shipping date.

If you wish to avoid this, please make sure your survey has been completed.

You can check your surveys by logging into BackerKit.  

I will be sending out another update in the next few day focussing on the project, progress (everything is going great so far) and Gen Con.
